Ian Schleh placed high in two individual events Saturday at the Class 2A state boys swim meet and led Anacortes to a fifth-place team finish.

Schleh, a junior, was third in the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 45.83 seconds, and fourth in the 500 freestyle in 4:54.70. He also swam on Anacortes’ two state-final relay teams.

Anacortes’ 200 medley relay team was fifth in 1:47.23, while the 400 freestyle relay team was third in 3:21.51.

In other championship finals at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Karl Akland was eighth in the 50 freestyle (22.72) and eighth in the 100 freestyle (51.61), Evan Akland was eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:50.96), and Taylor Beck was seventh in the 100 butterfly (58.14) and seventh in the 100 backstroke (59.71).

Schleh was joined in the medley relay by Beck, Conner Richards and Karl Akland, while swimming on the 400 relay were Schleh, Richards, Evan Akland and Michael Bamonte.

Anacortes finished just two points back of fourth-place Pullman. Northwest Conference rival Sehome won the state title for the fourth straight year.
