Ron Gold passed away February 15, 2012 at his home in Port Orchard, Washington after a brief illness. He was just 3 weeks shy of his 80th birthday.
Ron was born in Seattle to Grant Gold and Olina Petersen on March 20, 1932. He was the youngest by 20 years to four other siblings. Ron was raised in Marysville, where he met Lois Jensen. They were married in 1949 and remained in Snohomish County until they moved to Anacortes in 1967.
Ron worked for Scott Paper in Everett for several years and eventually went into the insurance business. The family had a passion for boating and fishing which prompted the move to Anacortes.
He purchased an insurance and real estate business in Anacortes and eventually became a General Contractor, building many homes in the Skagit Valley area, branching out to Kitsap County and the Tri Cities area, where in the early 70s his son Dave and later son Derral went into business with him.
In the early 80s Ron and his wife Lois purchased the Anacortes Car Wash. They sold the business in the late 80s, retired and soon after moved to Port Orchard, WA.
He and Lois enjoyed many years of traveling in their motor home, cruises and also fishing excursions on their boat.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Everett, Bert, Laurence Gold his sister, Evelyn Hurn, and his beloved wife Lois.
He is survived by his three children, Dave (Lori) of Anacortes, Derral (Marilyn) and Rhonda Cully (Ken) all of Port Orchard and six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a very close niece, Shirley Filbert of Burlington.
There will be no funeral service. A family celebration may be held at a later date. Any remembrances may be sent to a charity of choice.
