Rollie was 88 years old, born September 11th 1923 to Robert and Deborah Jones in Buffalo, Wyoming.
He was the youngest of four children. The Family moved to Washington state in the late ’30s and settled in the Seattle area before the war.
He married Lois Lee Day from Juanita, WA on December 7th 1944 in Greensboro NC prior to shipping overseas as a B-25 bomber pilot.
Upon his return from the war he and Lois bought a house in Skyway, Washington and had three children, Larry Michael, Terry Lee and Jody Ann Jones. He was recalled back into the Air Force and moved the family to Mountain Home AFB, Idaho in 1953.
Rollie liked the Mountain Home area so much that the family lived there until he was sent to Vietnam in 1965. Upon returning from Vietnam he was assigned to Hurlburt AFB, FL.
In 1969 he was assigned to McCord, AFB, Washington as Vice Commander and retired in 1970 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Rollie and Lois bought a home on Guemes Island, Washington.
In 2004 after 34 years of wonderful Island life Rollie’s son Terry brought him to Diamond View Assisted Living Community located in Meridian, Idaho. He enjoyed many visits from his island friends and family members until his death.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lois Lee in 1991, and oldest child Larry Michael in 2004 along with his older brothers Bob Jr. and Vernon and his sister Carol Jones.
He is survived by his son Terry Jones (Sue) of New Meadows Id, his daughter Jody Trible (Chuck) of Green Valley, Az, and his daughter in-law Janice Jones Stutzman Omaha, Ne. He has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rollie will be interned at Eden Cemetery on Guemes Island, Washington next to Lois in the summer of 2012.
