Madeline “Liz” Elizabeth Laumbattus, 90, of Anacortes, left this world for her new home in heaven on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Fidalgo Care Center in Anacortes.
She was the youngest of three daughters, born on June 1, 1921 in Wellington, Colorado to Arthur and Florence (Polkinghorn) Pomrenke.
In 1947 she married Ralph Laumbattus, the love of her life and they resided in South Roxana, Illinois until 1955 when Shell Oil Company transferred them to Anacortes, Washington. After Ralph’s retirement, they joined the “snowbirds” gang to Arizona for winters and back home to Anacortes for summers for 19 years.
During her lifetime, Liz enjoyed countless vacations with family and friends to Lake Chelan. She also enjoyed ceramics, golf, and was an accomplished seamstress.
Liz was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ralph, in 1999; youngest son, Steven in 1994; and daughter, Donna Baltazor and her son, Joey Baltazor in 1964, and sister, Ada Jamerman.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Debbie Laumbattus of Anacortes; grandchildren, Lisa Laumbattus of Westminster, Colorado; Lana Laumbattus of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Eric Laumbattus of Redmond, Washington, and David and his wife, Arielle Baltazor and great-grandson, Robert Stevens of Yakima, Washington; and sister, Margaret Ruleau of Wyoming, in addition to numerous nieces; nephews; and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Anacortes Christian Church, 1211 M Avenue. Memorials may be made to Feed the Children, PO Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK, 73101-0036.
