Linda Dickneite

Linda Dickneite passed away suddenly on December 31, 2011 at the age of 69.

She was born June 20, 1942 in Beaufort, North Carolina to Elijah and Ruby Lewis. Linda was raised in North Carolina and Virginia, graduating from high school in Norfolk, VA and junior college in Jacksonville, FL.

Linda was married to Eugene Dickneite on October 2, 1963 in Saugerties, NY. Gene was on active duty with the U.S. Navy and Linda was a proud Navy spouse. The military assigned them to Argentina, Newfoundland, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Newport, RI, Washington, DC, Norfolk, VA, St. Marys, GA, and finally to NAS Whidbey in 1981 and retirement.

Linda was a devoted Catholic Christian and an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church of Oak Harbor and St. Mary Catholic Church of Anacortes. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank at St. Mary Church. Linda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a gourmet cook and also enjoyed sewing, cake decorating and crafts.

Survivors include her beloved husband Eugene at the family home and three children: Joseph Dickneite of Hope, Idaho; Michael Dickneite of Seattle and Genea Willard and husband Jesse of Moses Lake, WA, and her granddaughter, “Nonna’s Angel Baby Girl,” Jalena Willard. Survivors also include one brother, Wayne Lewis and wife Sonia of Morehead City, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by one sister Elaine Young.

Private family services were held at Wallin Funeral Home with Rites of Committal following at Fernhill Cemetery, Anacortes with Rev. Vu P. Tran of St. Mary Catholic Church officiating.
