Alfred Robert (Bob) McCrary

Alfred (Bob) McCrary, 78, of Anacortes, Washington passed away on August 7, 2012 peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer.

Alfred was born in Seattle, Washington to Alfred S. and Thelma B. McCrary on November 17, 1933. He attended Roosevelt High School and graduated from the University of Washington in 1960 with a degree in electrical engineering.

He was employed by the Boeing Company as an Electrical Engineer and was very much involved in the Boeing 747 and 767 airplane production until his retirement.

Alfred and Bonnie lived in Lake Forest Park, Washington for 39 years before moving to Anacortes in 1997.

Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, and two daughters, Cynthia McCrary (Figgins) and Suzanne McCrary.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie McCrary, daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Mike Hebert of Anacortes, grandchildren Shalia and Hillary Figgins, Michaela and Kingston Hebert. Brother Frank R McCrary and Sister Gloria F. Pomtier.

Alfred was a true patriot and loved his country, the United States of America, politics, the water, boating, fishing, golf, skiing and spending time with family and friends. He was a proud man who defended what he believed in with great passion. He enjoyed being a member of the “Friday Boys Club,” where he met and became friends with many accomplished Anacortes gentleman.

The family extends a very special thanks to San Juan Rehab and Island Hospital Cancer Care Center staff for the loving care he received.

Alfred will be missed dearly by those that loved him.

No memorial service will be held at his request.
