Eighteen candidates have signed up to make a run for the many seats available in Anacortes.
Bark in the Park featured contests like best tail wag, best costume, bark and howl, best kisser and wackiest dog trick as well as canine cake walks, an agility demonstration and adoptable dog parade.
The official “Ride Your Bike to the Market Day” is Saturday. The event features a parade starting at 10:30 a.m. from Causland Memorial Park to the Anacortes Farmers Market at the Depot Arts Center with awards for best bike decoration and best helmet decoration.
Summit Assistance Dogs puppy raisers got their little bundles of fluff at a party earlier today. The six Labrador puppies were featured on the organization’s puppy cam for about two months.
The organization got good news this week. It won a Toyota Prius.
Join all kinds of dog friends at the seventh annual Bark in the Park Festival 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Storvik Park. The event includes raffle items, vendors, entertainment, demos, contests, food, goodie bags and more.
The Cat’s Meow is “Beating the Heat” with a new program to spay female cats before they go into heat and have litters of kittens that often end up at the local shelter and adoption center.
The free spay program is available to all Fidalgo and Guemes islands residents whose household income is within certain guidelines.
