The West Skagit Regional Fire Departments, made up of Anacortes and fire districts 11, 13 and 17, was recently awarded a $212,000 federal grant to purchase a mobile live fire training prop.

Leaders say the prop will help them conduct more frequent and consistent live fire training. It can be moved and used at each department’s location to reduce travel costs and out-of-service time.

A 10 percent match is required and the agencies are working on securing funding.
