Here’s an early thank you to the Anacortes Women of Today and everyone else who has worked hard to put together the annual Fourth of July festivities — everything from this morning’s town photo, parade and patriotic program at Causland Memorial Park to the Rock the Dock events at Seafarers’ Memorial Park and the John Curtis Memorial Fireworks Show over Fidalgo Bay this evening.

What a lineup. Enjoy it all, and along the way take time to think about what we’re really celebrating — our independence and the history, government and traditions of the United States.
