Having a state ferry that serves the San Juan Islands named after the Samish Indian Nation makes perfect sense to us.

The tribe is rounding up support for the idea and will be making its case to the Washington State Transportation Commission, which is expected to select names in November for the two 144-car ferries it has under construction.
