Jan. 20, 1972: Doing laundry work and other chores at local convalescent centers seems to be a lot of fun for teen-age volunteers Tammy Beale, Joyce Kirkland, and Cindy Schlindwein, pictured left to right in the laundry room at the Anacortes Convalescent Center. The girls are part of the Red Cross ‘Volunteen’ program and spend several hours a week visiting with patients and helping out in many ways.
