April 24, 1952: Call it a Field Day if you like, but Gilbert Hull and Harry Davis put in a day at hard labor when they turned out for Mount Erie Field Day. That’s no prop they’re posed around — it’s an example of some of the debris volunteer crews have shoved around and cleared out on the mountain. The Chamber of Commerce sponsored a successful field day last week, the fourth one so far in the series being planned by various city organizations to get the roadway in shape for a summer opening.
