The first Haunted Depot was ‘fantastic,’ according to Anacortes Community Theatre manager Tim Brown. He said the event on Saturday brought in almost $4,000 plus plenty of nonperishable food items for local food banks.
"I’d say $4,000 at $5 admission was a grand success," he said. "Next year we’re going to do it bigger and better and meaner."
The family-friendly haunting earlier in the day saw about 200 guests, while the scarier evening show had about 500. Even the earlier show was a little scarier than they thought it would be, and Brown said they ended up taking guests through with the lights on, or off, depending on their fright tolerance.
On Halloween, Key Club members will be trick-or-treating for UNICEF, and the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Trick-or-Treat Downtown from 2-5 p.m.
