A recent donation of a first edition of Tom Robbins’ 1984 book Jitterbug Perfume (his fourth book) has been signed by the author to benefit the Anacortes Public Library.

Three writers with ties to Anacortes are publishing books this year after overcoming their own personal challenges along the way.
The fictional stories vary in their intended audiences, their tones and themes. But the personal investment of each author shows through in the care given to characters, conflict and language.
Student filmmakers at Anacortes High School swept the 2013 Guerilla Film Project awards in Bellingham in February. They also learned last week that three films from the class were accepted to the National Film Festival For Talented Youth in Seattle.
The Anacortes Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program offers free tax help 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at Anacortes First Baptist Church, 2717 J Ave., and 3-7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Anacortes Middle School, 2200 M Ave.
Help is offered through April 15 on a first-come, first-served basis. Income limit to $51,000 adjusted gross income.
