Grant will help make it safer for kids to get to school

Boat on the rocks near Burrows Island

A 60-year-old Kirkland man was arrested by Swinomish Tribal Police for boating under the influence around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Tribal officers were doing boating safety checks in the area when they noticed smoke coming from the 47-foot vessel, which was up on the rocks about 100 yards east of Burrows Island. The boat was taking on water.
